ब्राह्मणपूजायां व्युष्टिः — Vyuṣṭi (Merit-Outcome) of Honoring Brāhmaṇas: Kṛṣṇa and Durvāsā
ऋषयश्चार्तिमापन्ना जितक्रोधा जितेन्द्रिया: । भवन्तो व्यथिताश्चासन् देवकल्पास्तपोधना:,उसी तेजसे आप-जैसे तपस्याके धनी, देवोपम शक्तिशाली, क्रोधविजयी और जितेन्द्रिय ऋषि भी पीड़ित और व्यथित हो गये थे
ṛṣayaś cārtim āpannā jitakrodhā jitendriyāḥ | bhavanto vyathitāś cāsan devakalpās tapodhanāḥ ||
Dijo Vāyu: «Aun los sabios—ricos en austeridad, de poder semejante al de los dioses, vencedores de la ira y dueños de sus sentidos—cayeron en aflicción y quedaron sacudidos por la angustia. Tal fue el peso del sufrimiento que los sobrecogió».
वायुदेव उवाच
The verse highlights that even highly disciplined sages—who have mastered anger and the senses—can be overwhelmed by intense suffering. Ethically, it underscores humility and compassion: spiritual attainment does not make one immune to pain, and distress can test even the most self-controlled.
Vāyu addresses revered listeners and describes how the sages, despite being godlike and wealthy in austerity, became afflicted and shaken. The statement functions as testimony to the severity of the situation being discussed in this section of the Anuśāsana Parva.
