Śiva-nāmānukīrtana-prastāvaḥ
Prologue to the praise of Śiva and the Upamanyu testimony
गोचारिणो<5थाश्मकुट्टा दन्तोलूखलिकास्तथा । मरीचिपा: फेनपाश्चव तथैव मृगचारिण:
gocāriṇo ’tha aśmakuṭṭā dantolūkhalikās tathā | marīcipāḥ phenapāś ca tathaiva mṛgacāriṇaḥ ||
Vāsudeva dijo: «Algunos asumieron el voto de servir al ganado y vivían y vagaban junto a las vacas. Otros se alimentaban de comida molida sobre piedra; algunos incluso usaban los dientes como mortero y mano. Algunos se sostenían bebiendo rayos de sol y espuma; y del mismo modo, muchos sabios adoptaron el voto de vivir como ciervos, errando en compañía de los ciervos».
