दानशील-समाचारः, सत्कारः, अहिंसा च

Umā–Maheśvara Saṃvāda

भोजनं च यथाशतत्या ब्राह्मणे वेदपारगे । पशुबन्धशतस्येह फल प्राप्रोति पुष्कलम्‌

Dhaumya uvāca— bhojanaṁ ca yathāśaktyā brāhmaṇe vedapārage | paśubandhaśatasyeha phalaṁ prāpnoti puṣkalam ||

Dijo Dhaumya: Si una persona, según sus medios, ofrece una comida a un brāhmaṇa plenamente versado en los Vedas, obtiene aquí una recompensa abundante: el fruto completo equivalente al de cien sacrificios de animales. El verso subraya que la hospitalidad sincera, acorde con la propia capacidad, hacia los sabios es tenida por un acto dhármico de gran poder, capaz de otorgar el mérito que suele atribuirse a grandes ritos.
