खादकस्य कृते जन्तून् यो हन्यात् पुरुषाधम: । महादोषतरस्तत्र घातको न तु खादक:
khādakasya kṛte jantūn yo hanyāt puruṣādhamaḥ | mahādoṣataras tatra ghātako na tu khādakaḥ ||
Dijo Bhīṣma: «Quien mata seres vivos para que otro los coma es el más vil de los hombres. En esto, el matador incurre en una falta mucho más grave; el que come la carne no carga con una culpa de igual medida».
