अध्याय ९५: चित्राङ्गदस्य गन्धर्वेण सह संग्रामः तथा विचित्रवीर्यस्य राज्याभिषेकः

आजमीढो महायज्ैर्बहुभिर्भूरिदक्षिणै: । तत: संवरणात् सौरी तपती सुषुवे कुरुम्,फिर उन्होंने सब राजाओंको जीतकर उन्हें करद बना लिया। तदनन्तर वे महाबली नरेश अजमीढवंशी संवरण पुनः पृथ्वीका राज्य पाकर बहुत दक्षिणावाले बहुसंख्यक महायज्ञोंद्वारा भगवान्का यजन करने लगे। कुछ कालके पश्चात् सूर्यकन्या तपतीने संवरणके वीर्यसे कुरु नामक पुत्रको जन्म दिया
Vaiśampāyana uvāca: Ājamīḍho mahāyajñair bahubhir bhūridakṣiṇaiḥ | tataḥ Saṃvaraṇāt Saurī Tapatī suṣuve Kurum ||
Vaiśampāyana dijo: Ajāmīḍha celebró muchos grandes sacrificios (yajñas), cada uno acompañado de abundantes dádivas. Después, de Saṃvaraṇa, Saurī Tapatī —la hija del Sol— dio a luz un hijo llamado Kuru.
