उदीचीमर्जुनो वीर: प्रतीचीं नकुलस्तथा । दक्षिणां सहदेवस्तु विजिग्ये परवीरहा,महायशस्वी भीमसेनने पूर्व दिशापर विजय पायी। वीर अर्जुनने उत्तर, नकुलने पश्चिम और शत्रु वीरोंका संहार करनेवाले सहदेवने दक्षिण दिशापर विजय प्राप्त की
udīcīm arjuno vīraḥ pratīcīṃ nakulas tathā | dakṣiṇāṃ sahadevas tu vijigye paravīrahā | mahāyaśasvī bhīmasenaḥ pūrvāṃ diśaṃ paravīrahā vijigye |
Dijo Vaiśampāyana: El heroico Arjuna conquistó el norte; Nakula, asimismo, sometió el occidente. Sahadeva —matador de campeones enemigos— ganó el sur. Y el muy renombrado Bhīmasena obtuvo la victoria en el oriente. Así, los hermanos Pāṇḍava, repartiéndose los cuatro rumbos, extendieron su dominio justo al vencer a las fuerzas hostiles.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse highlights organized, duty-bound leadership: the brothers divide responsibilities by quarters and establish order by subduing hostile forces, reflecting kṣatriya-dharma—courage and governance directed toward stability rather than mere personal gain.
Vaiśampāyana narrates that the Pāṇḍava brothers undertake directional conquests: Arjuna in the north, Nakula in the west, Sahadeva in the south, and Bhīma in the east, each achieving victory in his assigned region.
