Aṃśāvataraṇa-kathana (Catalog of Divine/Asuric Portions in Human Births) — Chapter 61
नगरं खाण्डवप्रस्थं रत्नान्यादाय सर्वश: । तत्र ते न््यवसन् पार्था: संवत्सरगणान् बहून्
nagaraṃ khāṇḍavaprasthaṃ ratnāny ādāya sarvaśaḥ | tatra te nyavasan pārthāḥ saṃvatsaragaṇān bahūn ||
Dijo Vaiśampāyana: Llevando consigo toda clase de tesoros, los Pārtha se dirigieron a la ciudad de Khāṇḍavaprastha. Allí se establecieron y vivieron por muchos años, asentando su casa y su gobierno en aquella región.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse highlights the dharmic ideal of establishing stability after hardship: rightful settlement, orderly governance, and sustained residence are presented as markers of legitimate rule and social flourishing.
The Pāṇḍavas (Pārthas) proceed to Khāṇḍavaprastha with their valuables and take up long-term residence there, indicating the beginning of their settled life and political consolidation in that city.
