The verse highlights prudent dharmic statecraft: after securing a legitimate marital alliance (Draupadī), the Pāṇḍavas do not rush back immediately but return at an appropriate time, once their identity is known and their position is strengthened—suggesting that ethical action also requires wise timing and stable alliances.
After winning Draupadī in Pāñcāla, the Pāṇḍavas remain there for about a year. Even though they are recognized, they stay on, and then they return to Hāstinapura, marking their re-entry into Kuru political life with Draupadī as their queen.
