Cyavana’s Birth and Bhṛgu’s Curse upon Agni
The verse highlights an ethical tension: disclosing someone’s identity to a dangerous person can become a cause of harm. It invites reflection on responsibility, protection of the innocent, and how actions done under compulsion or fear can still have grave consequences.
Pulomā reports that Agni revealed her identity to a rākṣasa; immediately afterward the rākṣasa seized and carried her away as she cried out loudly, compared to the plaintive cry of a kurarī-bird.
