Jaratkāru’s Marital Compact and Departure
A righteous promise made by a sage carries decisive moral force: what one seeks from worldly authority can be granted through spiritual merit and the trustworthy word of a ṛṣi, even when the desired result is rare or difficult.
Kāśyapa addresses a petitioner and assures them that the very boon they hope to obtain from an excellent king will instead be granted directly by him, underscoring the superior efficacy of ascetic power and truthful commitment.
