Jaratkāru-Pitṛdarśana
राज्ञा प्रतिष्ठितो धर्मों धर्मात् स्वर्ग: प्रतिष्ठित: । राज्ञो यज्ञक्रिया: सर्वा यज्ञाद् देवा: प्रतिष्ठिता:,राजासे धर्मकी स्थापना होती है और धर्मसे स्वर्गलोककी प्रतिष्ठा (प्राप्ति) होती है। राजासे सम्पूर्ण यज्ञकर्म प्रतिष्ठित होते हैं और यज्ञसे देवताओंकी प्रतिष्ठा होती है
rājñā pratiṣṭhito dharmo dharmāt svargaḥ pratiṣṭhitaḥ | rājño yajñakriyāḥ sarvā yajñād devāḥ pratiṣṭhitāḥ ||
“Es por el rey que el dharma queda firmemente establecido; y sobre el dharma se asegura el propio cielo. Del rey dependen todos los ritos sacrificiales, y del sacrificio son sustentados y sostenidos los dioses.”
शमीक उवाच
The verse teaches an interdependent moral-cosmic order: good kingship upholds dharma; dharma leads to heavenly welfare; royal support enables yajña; and yajña sustains the gods—so governance, ethics, and ritual together maintain the world’s stability.
Śamīka is articulating the principle of rajadharma—why the king’s role is pivotal. By stressing that dharma and sacrificial life depend on the ruler, he frames kingship as a responsibility that safeguards both social order and the sacred economy between humans and gods.
