Jaratkāru-Pitṛdarśana
दण्डात् प्रतिभयं भूय: शान्तिरुत्पद्यते तदा । नोडिग्नश्वरते धर्म नोद्विग्नश्वरते क्रियामू,दण्डसे भय होता है, फिर भयसे तत्काल शान्ति स्थापित होती है। जो चोर आदिके भयसे उद्विग्न है, वह धर्मका अनुष्ठान नहीं कर सकता। वह उद्विग्न पुरुष यज्ञ, श्राद्ध आदि शास्त्रीय कर्मोका आचरण भी नहीं कर सकता
daṇḍāt pratibhayaṃ bhūyaḥ śāntir utpadyate tadā | nodvignasvarate dharmo nodvignasvarate kriyām ||
Śamīka dijo: “Del castigo nace el temor; y de ese temor, la paz se establece con rapidez. Un hombre agitado por el miedo no puede mantenerse debidamente en el dharma, ni un hombre ansioso puede cumplir los ritos y deberes prescritos.”
