The verse teaches a dharmic principle of hierarchy and propriety within the household: the younger should not intrude into the elder’s private domestic sphere, as that is considered a breach of due order (vidhi), whereas the elder’s entry does not constitute an offence against the younger.
Vaiśampāyana states a normative rule about conduct between elder and younger brothers, clarifying what counts as fault (upaghāta) in entering another’s space—especially in situations involving privacy and conjugal domestic life.
