समुद्रवर्णनम् (Description of the Ocean) — Kadrū and Vinatā approach the sea
ततो मही प्रविचलिता सकानना महाद्रिपाताभिहता समनन््ततः । परस्परं भृशमभिगर्जतां मुहू रणाजिरे भूशमभिसम्प्रवर्तिते,उस समय एक-दूसरेको लक्ष्य करके बार-बार जोर-जोरसे गरजनेवाले देवताओं और असुरोंके उस समरांगणमें सब ओर भयंकर मार-काट मच रही थी; बड़े-बड़े पर्वतोंके गिरनेसे आहत हुई वनसहित सारी भूमि काँपने लगी
tato mahī pravicalitā sakānanā mahādripātābhihatā samanantataḥ | parasparaṁ bhṛśam abhigarjatāṁ muhūr raṇājire bhīṣaṇam abhisampravartite ||
Entonces la tierra, con sus bosques, comenzó a temblar, golpeada por todas partes por el estruendo de la caída de grandes montañas. En aquel campo de batalla, mientras dioses y asuras se rugían mutuamente una y otra vez en feroz desafío, una matanza espantosa se desbordó por doquier: imagen de la violencia bélica sin freno que llega a abatir la misma firmeza del mundo.
