अध्याय १८४ — भैक्षविभागः, शयनविधानम्, धृष्टद्युम्नस्य निवेदनम्
Alms Distribution, Night Lodging, and Dhṛṣṭadyumna’s Report
पुरोहित: सोमकानां मन्त्रविद् ब्राह्मण: शुचि: । परिस्तीर्य जुहावाग्निमाज्येन विधिवत् तदा,तब सोमकवंशी क्षत्रियोंके पवित्र एवं मन्त्रज्ञ ब्राह्मण पुरोहितने अग्निवेदीके चारों ओर कुशा बिछाकर वेदोक्त विधिके अनुसार प्रज्वलित अग्निमें घीकी आहुति डाली
vaiśampāyana uvāca | purohitaḥ somakānāṃ mantravid brāhmaṇaḥ śuciḥ | paristīrya juhāvāgnim ājyena vidhivat tadā ||
Vaiśampāyana dijo: «El sacerdote familiar de los Somaka —un brahmán puro, versado en mantras sagrados— extendió la hierba ritual alrededor del altar y, conforme al rito védico prescrito, ofreció ghee en el fuego».
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse highlights dharma as disciplined adherence to prescribed sacred procedure: purity, mantra-knowledge, and correct performance of offerings are presented as the proper means by which worldly aims—especially those of rulers and lineages—are pursued and sanctioned.
A learned and ritually pure Brahmin priest of the Somakas prepares the altar area (spreading ritual grass) and performs a formal oblation by pouring ghee into the sacrificial fire in accordance with Vedic rules.
