तत्राजम्मुर्बकं द्रष्टर सस्त्रीवृद्धकुमारका: । ततस्ते विस्मिता: सर्वे कर्म दृष्टवातिमानुषम् | दैवतान्यर्चयांचक्रु: सर्व एव विशाम्पते,राजन! उन्होंने एकचक्रा नगरीमें जाकर नगरभरमें यह समाचार फैला दिया; फिर तो हजारों नगरनिवासी मनुष्य स्त्री, बच्चों और बूढ़ोंक साथ बकासुरको देखनेके लिये वहाँ आये। उस समय वह अमानुषिक कर्म देखकर सबको बड़ा आश्चर्य हुआ। जनमेजय! उन सभी लोगोंने देवताओंकी पूजा की
tatrājam murbakaṃ draṣṭuṃ sa-strī-vṛddha-kumārakāḥ | tataḥ te vismitāḥ sarve karma dṛṣṭvā ati-mānuṣam | daivatāny arcayāṃ cakruḥ sarva eva viśāṃpate ||
Entonces, para contemplar a Baka ya abatido, se congregaron allí los habitantes—mujeres, ancianos y niños incluidos. Al ver aquella hazaña, más allá de la medida humana, todos quedaron maravillados. Oh señor de los pueblos, se entregaron a adorar a los dioses, reconociendo el favor divino que los había librado.
