Entry into Vāraṇāvata and Suspicion of the Lac-House
क्षत्तर्यद् गुरुराचार्यो ब्रवीति कुरु तत् तथा । न हीदृशं प्रियं मन््ये भविता धर्मवत्सल,(आचार्यसे इतना कहकर राजा धुृतराष्ट्र विदुरसे बोले--) “धर्मवत्सल! विदुर! गुरु द्रोणाचार्य जो काम जैसे कहते हैं, उसी प्रकार उसे करो। मेरी रायमें इसके समान प्रिय कार्य दूसरा नहीं होगा”
dhṛtarāṣṭra uvāca |
kṣattaryad gurur ācāryo bravīti kuru tat tathā |
na hīdṛśaṃ priyaṃ manye bhavitā dharmavatsala ||
Dijo Dhṛtarāṣṭra: «Oh Kṣattṛ (Vidura), amante del dharma: haz exactamente lo que ordene el venerable maestro Droṇa. No creo que haya nada que pueda complacerme más que esto».
धृतराष्ट उवाच
The verse emphasizes deference to legitimate authority in a dharmic framework: the king urges that the preceptor’s instruction be carried out exactly, presenting obedience to the guru/ācārya as an ethically valued act.
Dhṛtarāṣṭra addresses Vidura (as Kṣattṛ), instructing him to implement whatever Droṇācārya has advised, and states that nothing would please him more than seeing that instruction fulfilled.
