अब्रवीद्‌ भारतं॑ लोके मानुषे5स्मिन्‌ महानृषि: । जनमेजयेन पृष्ट: सन्‌ ब्राह्मणैश्व सहस्रश:

Transliteration

abravīd bhārataṁ loke mānuṣe 'smin mahānṛṣiḥ | janamejayena pṛṣṭaḥ san brāhmaṇaiś ca sahasraśaḥ ||

Translation

El gran sabio proclamó el Bhārata en este mundo de los hombres—habiendo sido interrogado por el rey Janamejaya y, asimismo, una y otra vez por miles de brāhmaṇas. Así, la epopeya se ofrece como enseñanza sagrada, pronunciada en respuesta a una indagación sincera, destinada a guiar moral y espiritualmente a la sociedad.
