व्यपोहनस्तवनिरूपण-प्रसङ्गे नक्तभोजन-शिवव्रतविधिः (वार्षिक-प्रतिमास-क्रमः)

दद्याद्गोमिथुनं गौरं वारुणं लोकमाप्नुयात् श्रावणे च द्विजा मासे कृत्वा वै नक्तभोजनम्

dadyādgomithunaṃ gauraṃ vāruṇaṃ lokamāpnuyāt śrāvaṇe ca dvijā māse kṛtvā vai naktabhojanam

Quien done un par de vacas de la raza clara (gaura) alcanza el mundo de Varuṇa. Y en el mes de Śrāvaṇa, oh dos veces nacido, al observar el voto de naktabhojana—comer sólo de noche—obtiene ese mérito que purifica al paśu (alma atada) y lo vuelve hacia Pati, el Señor Śiva.
