Suta Goswami (narrating Shiva-puja instructions within the Linga Purana discourse)
It states that even a single utterance of the prescribed Shiva-mantra purifies the devotee, and that Linga-puja should be performed with simple offerings like fragrance, guided by bhakti rather than lavish expense.
Shiva is implied as Pati—the liberating Lord whose mantra severs pāśa (bondage) and cleanses the pashu (bound soul) through grace accessed by devotion and right practice.
Mantra-japa joined with upacāra-style Linga-puja (gandha and related offerings), emphasizing inner devotion and accessible practice aligned with one’s capacity.
