स्नानविधिः — गायत्र्यावाहन, सूर्यवन्दन, तर्पण, पञ्चमहायज्ञ, भस्मस्नान, मन्त्रस्नान
सहस्रं वा तदर्धं वा शतमष्टोत्तरं तु वा गायत्रीं प्रणवेनैव त्रिविधेष्वेकमाचरेत्

Debe realizar japa de la Gāyatrī unida al Pranava (Oṃ): mil veces, o la mitad de ello, o ciento ocho veces, eligiendo una de estas tres medidas. Por esta repetición disciplinada, el paśu (alma atada) es conducido a la pureza y se vuelve apto para la gracia de Pati (Śiva).
