Karma-yoga Discipline for the Twice-born: Upanayana, Upavīta Conduct, Guru-veneration, and Alms-regimen

कृतोपनयनो वेदानधीयीत द्विजोत्तमाः / गर्भाष्टमे ऽष्टमे वाब्दे स्वसूत्रोक्तविधानतः

kṛtopanayano vedānadhīyīta dvijottamāḥ / garbhāṣṭame 'ṣṭame vābde svasūtroktavidhānataḥ

Habiendo recibido el rito de upanayana, el mejor entre los dos veces nacidos debe estudiar los Vedas, en el octavo año desde la concepción —o bien en el octavo año desde el nacimiento— conforme al procedimiento enseñado en su propia tradición de Gṛhya-sūtra.
