Hari-stuti by Śrī, Brahmā, Vāyu, Sarasvatī, Śeṣa, Garuḍa, Rudra, Vāruṇī and Pārvatī
Humility, Surrender, and the Power of the Name
Narrator (Purāṇic narrator addressing a dvija; leading into Vāruṇī’s speech)
Primary Rasa: shanta
Secondary Rasa: adbhuta
Related Themes: Garuda Purana: sequential stuti/discourse structure—speaker transitions marked by ‘tūṣṇīm āsa’ (general)
It marks a transition: Rudra’s hymn concludes, and the discourse shifts to the next speaker—Vāruṇī—who is about to deliver the next instruction or revelation.
Vāruṇī is presented as a देवी (goddess) associated by name with Varuṇa; the verse introduces her lineage epithet (śeṣānantarajā) to identify her before her speech begins.
The verse models attentive sequencing in sacred discourse: after offering praise (stuti), one should pause in humility and listen carefully when the next qualified voice begins to speak.
