Prelude to Samudra-manthana
निशाम्यैतत् सुरगणा महेन्द्रवरुणादय: । नाध्यगच्छन्स्वयं मन्त्रैर्मन्त्रयन्तो विनिश्चितम् ॥ १७ ॥ ततो ब्रह्मसभां जग्मुर्मेरोर्मूर्धनि सर्वश: । सर्वं विज्ञापयां चक्रु: प्रणता: परमेष्ठिने ॥ १८ ॥
niśāmyaitat sura-gaṇā mahendra-varuṇādayaḥ nādhyagacchan svayaṁ mantrair mantrayanto viniścitam
Śrī Śukadeva dijo: Al ver tal situación, Indra, Varuṇa y los demás devas deliberaron entre sí, pero no hallaron por sus propios consejos una solución definitiva. Entonces todos los devas se reunieron y fueron a la cumbre del monte Sumeru, a la asamblea de Brahmā; allí se postraron para ofrecer reverencias a Paramēṣṭhī Brahmā y le comunicaron todos los sucesos acontecidos.
Because the situation was beyond their independent capacity; even after deliberation, they could not find a sure solution and needed higher guidance.
It teaches that human or celestial strategy has limits; when clarity does not arise, one should seek shelter of a higher, spiritually authoritative source.
Do your best deliberation, but if uncertainty persists, seek guidance from genuine spiritual teachers and scripture rather than relying only on ego-driven planning.
