FAQs

It teaches a bhaiṣajya-mantra procedure: using barley measured as a droṇa and anointed with ghee, combined with specific mantra-formulas, to function as a remedy—both for apotropaic protection (removing māyā/sorcery) and for desired outcomes like putralābha and saubhāgya.

It exemplifies the Agni Purāṇa’s practical compendium style by blending materia (barley, ghee, measurement units like droṇa) with mantra-technology and outcome-oriented applications—showing how the text ranges beyond mythology into applied ritual medicine and household prosperity rites.

Performed विधिवत (according to rule), the rite is framed as purificatory and protective—removing harmful influences (māyā) while generating auspicious karmic conditions for lineage continuity (putra) and sustained household fortune (saubhāgya).
