It teaches an aushadhi-prayoga combined with ritual procedure: herbs are prepared (fumigated/lightly scorched) for practical benefit in sowing and harvesting, and a pacificatory fire-offering (śānti-homa) is performed using pāyasa with the herb Aśvāvatī.
It integrates multiple domains—agricultural timing (sowing/harvest), applied herb-lore (oṣadhi usage), and Vedic-style ritual technology (homa for śānti)—showing how the Agni Purana compiles pragmatic and religious knowledge side by side.
The pāyasa-homa with Aśvāvatī is presented as a means to obtain śānti—appeasement of adverse influences and restoration of harmony—linking material well-being (artha) with ritual purification and protection.
