It teaches a practical method of character-assessment: identify inner virtues (fortitude, affection, steadfastness in crisis) and verify devotion, friendliness, and purity through observable day-to-day dealings (vyavahāra).
Alongside ritual and theology, the Agni Purana also preserves applied governance and social-ethical guidance—here, a behavioral framework useful for rulers, judges, and householders to evaluate reliability and virtue in public life.
By valuing steadiness in adversity and purity in conduct, one aligns with dharma: cultivating such traits and choosing trustworthy companions supports righteous action, reduces harm, and promotes inner purification (śauca) and meritorious conduct.
