Chapter 303: Mantras for Worship Beginning with the Five-syllable (Pañcākṣara) —
Lord Agni (traditionally instructing the sage Vasiṣṭha in the Agni Purāṇa’s dialogic frame)

It teaches a sequence in ritual practice: perform prāyaścitta for śuddhi (purification), consecrate a kumbha with mantras, worship it, and then conduct the child’s abhiṣeka on a pīṭha.
It preserves procedural ritual technology—expiation, mantra-consecration of ritual implements, and abhiṣeka protocol—showing the text’s practical coverage of domestic and ceremonial rites alongside its many other disciplines.
By placing prāyaścitta first, the rite is framed as removing impurity/ritual fault so that the subsequent consecration and abhiṣeka become spiritually efficacious and merit-bearing.
