FAQs

It imparts chandas-vidyā—technical identification/classification of key Vedic and classical metres (Jagatī, Triṣṭubh, Anuṣṭubh, Āryā), presenting metrical knowledge as a formal discipline that yields siddhi through correct mastery and recitation.

By cataloging prosodic categories across Vedic and later Sanskrit traditions, it shows the Agni Purana functioning as a compendium not only of ritual and theology but also of linguistic sciences (śikṣā/chandas) and literary-technical knowledge (sāhitya-śāstra).

The verse links correct metrical knowledge with su-siddhi (excellent accomplishment), implying that disciplined study and accurate recitation/usage of metres supports purity of mantra, correctness of scripture-learning, and the merit (puṇya) associated with faultless chanting.
