It supplies a nāma-saṅgraha (a curated list of names) intended for structured recitation in ritual contexts—useful for japa/saṅkalpa-style identification and protective invocation.
By preserving compact catalog-lists (names, epithets, and identifiers) that function as ready reference for liturgy and tradition—one of the Agni Purana’s hallmark ‘handbook’ features across many subjects.
Reciting auspicious, tradition-sanctioned names is treated as a purificatory act that supports protection (rakṣā), steadiness of mind in worship, and merit (puṇya) through disciplined remembrance.
