Having received their salutations and offered them seats, the son of Satyavatī addressed them: “For what purpose have you all come here?”

Bhakti Type: Dasya
This verse highlights dharmic protocol—honoring visitors through salutations and hospitality—establishing moral order before the text proceeds to weightier teachings about decline in Kali Yuga.
It commonly frames instruction through courteous encounters: after formal reception, the authoritative speaker asks the visitors’ purpose, opening the pathway for doctrinal narration.
Even before explicit theology, the Purana emphasizes dharma as the lived ground on which devotion and knowledge of the Supreme (Vishnu) are transmitted through proper teacher–seeker engagement.
