तेषां गणस् तु देवानाम् एकैको विंशकः स्मृतः सप्तर्षीन् अपि वक्ष्यामि भविष्यान् मुनिसत्तम
teṣāṃ gaṇas tu devānām ekaiko viṃśakaḥ smṛtaḥ saptarṣīn api vakṣyāmi bhaviṣyān munisattama
Each of those divine groups is remembered as consisting of twenty deities. And now, O best of sages, I shall also declare to you the Saptarishis who are yet to come.
Sage Parāśara (speaking to Maitreya)
Speaker: Parasara
Topic: Numbers and names of devas and future Saptarishis in the Sāvarṇi Manvantara
Teaching: Cosmological
Quality: methodical
Creation Stage: Manvantara
Manvantara: Savarni
Concept: Cosmic order is expressed through precise measures—deva-gaṇas and the recurring institution of the Saptarishis.
Vedantic Theme: Dharma
Application: Adopt disciplined study and remembrance (smaraṇa) as a spiritual practice—order the mind as the cosmos is ordered.
Vishishtadvaita: The real plurality of divine functionaries operates within a single supreme order, supporting unity-in-diversity.
It signals an ordered, repeatable cosmic administration within the Manvantara framework, where divine functions are arranged in defined classes rather than being random or merely mythic.
He introduces them as a forthcoming enumeration within the Manvantara cycle—showing that in each era, a set of seven seers preserves and transmits dharma and sacred knowledge under Vishnu’s overarching order.
Even when not named in the verse, the entire Manvantara system—Devas, their groupings, and the succession of Saptarishis—functions as Vishnu’s sovereign cosmic governance, reflecting Him as the sustaining Supreme Reality.
