Then, seeing her husband once more seated upon the funeral pyre, that fair‑eyed lady—glad at heart as before—ascended it after him, in due rite and proper manner.
Sage Parāśara (narrating to Maitreya)
Speaker: Parasara
Topic: Consequences of ritual conduct and transgression; exemplum of proper rite and its fruit
Teaching: Ethical
Quality: authoritative
Concept: Faithful adherence to prescribed rite (vidhi) even amid grief is presented as dharmic steadiness that leads to higher purification.
Vedantic Theme: Dharma
Application: Hold to ethical commitments and sacred duties with integrity, especially in emotionally difficult moments.
Vishishtadvaita: Dharma is meaningful as service within the Lord’s order (niyati), preparing the self for higher grace and purity.
It emphasizes that the act is framed within dharma—performed according to established ritual order—highlighting social and religious norms within the dynastic narrative.
By embedding moral and ritual conduct inside lineage accounts, Parāśara shows how personal choices—especially in royal households—are measured against dharma and customary observance.
Even when Vishnu is not named in a given verse, the Purana’s dynastic narratives function under Vishnu’s sovereign order—dharma and cosmic governance are ultimately grounded in the Supreme Reality (Vishnu).
