तत्र सर्वम् इदं प्रोतम् ओतं चैवाखिलं जगत् ततो जगज् जगत् तस्मिन् स जगच् चाखिलं मुने
tatra sarvam idaṃ protam otaṃ caivākhilaṃ jagat tato jagaj jagat tasmin sa jagac cākhilaṃ mune
In Him, all this is strung and woven—indeed, the entire universe. From Him the world arises; within Him the world abides; and He, O sage, is wholly present within the world as well.
Sage Parāśara (teaching Maitreya)
Speaker: Parasara
Topic: How the universe is related to Vishnu as its source, support, and indwelling presence (prota/ota).
Teaching: Cosmological
Quality: revealing
Cosmic Hierarchy: Brahmanda (universe)
Concept: All existence is woven into Vishnu: the world arises from Him, abides in Him, and He indwells the world as its inner controller.
Vedantic Theme: Brahman
Application: Practice ‘seeing Narayana everywhere’—treat beings and nature with reverence, and anchor daily life in remembrance of the indwelling Lord.
Vishishtadvaita: Classic Vishishtadvaita relation: the universe and souls are real and inseparable modes (prakāra) of Brahman—He is both transcendent cause and immanent antaryāmin.
Vishnu Form: Narayana
Bhakti Type: Shanta
Antaryamin: Yes
Jagat Karana: Yes
It conveys that the universe is not independent: all beings and worlds are held together and interpenetrated by Vishnu as the underlying support and inner controller.
Parāśara presents a threefold relation—origin, abiding, and pervasion—showing Vishnu as both the source of the world and the One in whom it is sustained and present.
Vishnu is affirmed as the Supreme Reality (Para Brahman) who is simultaneously transcendent beyond the cosmos and immanent within it, aligning with core Vaishnava cosmology and Vedantic theology.
