Marriage is presented as a deliberate, welfare-oriented act (‘arthāya’): alliances are not merely personal but serve stability, succession, and dharma in the polity.
Vamśānucarita: it records marital connections that shape the transmission and legitimacy of a famed royal line (Kuru).
The gifting of a bride ‘for Kuru’s sake’ symbolizes the integration of beauty (śrī-like prosperity) with lineage-duty—an idiom for how royal fortune and continuity are ritually consolidated.
