Verse 18
Katharudra
ब्रह्मभूतात्मनस्तस्मादेतस्माच्छक्तिमिश्रितात् । अपञ्चीकृत आकाशसंभूतो रज्जुसर्पवत् ॥ आकाशाद्वायुसंज्ञस्तु स्पर्शोऽपञ्चीकृतः पुनः । वायोरग्निस्तथा चाग्नेराप अद्भ्यो वसुन्धरा ॥ तानि भूतानि सूक्ष्माणि पञ्चीकृत्येश्वरस्तदा । तेभ्य एव विसृष्टं तद्ब्रह्माण्डादि शिवेन ह ॥ ब्रह्माण्डस्योदरे देवा दानवा यक्षकिन्नराः । मनुष्याः पशुपक्ष्याद्यास्तत्तत्कर्मानुसारतः ॥
ब्रह्म-भूत-आत्मनः तस्मात् एतस्मात् शक्ति-मिश्रितात् । अपञ्चीकृतः आकाश-सम्भूतः रज्जु-सर्प-वत् ॥ आकाशात् वायु-संज्ञः तु स्पर्शः अपञ्चीकृतः पुनः । वायोः अग्निः तथा च अग्नेः आपः अद्भ्यः वसुन्धरा ॥ तानि भूतानि सूक्ष्माणि पञ्चीकृत्य ईश्वरः तदा । तेभ्यः एव विसृष्टम् तत् ब्रह्माण्ड-आदि शिवेन ह ॥ ब्रह्माण्डस्य उदरे देवाः दानवाः यक्ष-किन्नराः । मनुष्याः पशु-पक्षि-आद्याः तत्-तत्-कर्म-अनुसारतः ॥
brahmabhūtātmanas tasmād etasmāc chaktimiśritāt | apañcīkṛta ākāśasambhūto rajjusarpavat || ākāśād vāyusaṃjñas tu sparśo'pañcīkṛtaḥ punaḥ | vāyor agnis tathā cāgner āpa adbhyō vasundharā || tāni bhūtāni sūkṣmāṇi pañcīkṛtyeśvaras tadā | tebhya eva visṛṣṭaṃ tad brahmāṇḍādi śivena ha || brahmāṇḍasyodare devā dānavā yakṣakinnarāḥ | manuṣyāḥ paśupakṣyādyās tattatkarma-anusārataḥ ||
This verse repeats the same cosmological account: from the Self that has become Brahman, associated with power (śakti), arise the subtle unquintuplicated elements—ether, air, fire, water, and earth—like the rope-snake appearance. Then the Lord quintuplicates them and from them creates the cosmic egg and the beings within it, under Śiva. Within the cosmic egg are gods, demons, yakṣas, kinnaras, humans, and animals and birds, each according to karma.
This verse repeats the same cosmological account as Katharudra.17: from the Self associated with power arise the subtle elements (ether, air, fire, water, earth); the Lord quintuplicates them and creates the cosmic egg and beings within it according to karma, under Śiva.
