bhūyādatra paraṃ tīrthaṃ sarvapāpaharaṃ sadā | atra snānena dānena nṛṇāṃ lakṣmīḥ prajāyate
“May there be here a supreme tīrtha, ever removing all sins. By bathing and giving charity here, prosperity—Lakṣmī—arises for people.”
Kautsa
Type: ghat
Listener:
Sacred places are meant for purification and generosity; snāna and dāna together generate both merit and rightful prosperity.
A newly established “supreme tīrtha” is proclaimed ‘here’ in the Ayodhyā Māhātmya context (the verse itself does not name it explicitly).
Snāna (ritual bathing) and dāna (charity) at this tīrtha are prescribed as sin-destroying and prosperity-bestowing acts.
