
Verse 1
श्रीमार्कण्डेय उवाच । तस्यैवानन्तरं चान्यत्सिद्धेश्वरमनुत्तमम् । तीर्थं सर्वगुणोपेतं सर्वलोकेषु पूजितम्
Śrī Mārkaṇḍeya said: Immediately after that there is another unsurpassed place—Siddheśvara, a tīrtha endowed with every excellence, revered in all the worlds.
Verse 2
तत्र तीर्थे तु यः स्नात्वा ह्युमारुद्रं प्रपूजयेत् । वाजपेयस्य यज्ञस्य स लभेत्फलमुत्तमम्
Whoever bathes at that sacred tīrtha and then duly worships Umā and Rudra attains the supreme fruit—equal to the merit of performing the Vājapeya sacrifice.
Verse 3
तेन पुण्येन महता मृतः स्वर्गमवाप्नुयात् । अप्सरोगणसंवीतो जयशब्दादिमङ्गलैः
By that great merit, when he dies he attains heaven—surrounded by hosts of apsarases, welcomed with auspicious cries such as “Victory!”
Verse 4
सहस्रवत्सरांस्तत्र क्रीडयित्वा यथासुखम् । धनधान्यसमोपेते कुले महति जायते
Having sported there for a thousand years as he pleases, he is then born into a great family endowed with wealth and abundant grain.
Verse 5
पूज्यमानो नरश्रेष्ठ वेदवेदाङ्गपारगः । व्याधिशोकविनिर्मुक्तो जीवेच्च शरदां शतम्
Honored as the best of men, he becomes well-versed in the Vedas and their Vedāṅgas; freed from illness and sorrow, he lives for a hundred autumns.
