Adhyaya 130

Verse 1

श्रीमार्कण्डेय उवाच । नर्मदादक्षिणे कूले देवतीर्थमनुत्तमम् । तत्र देवैः समागत्य तोषितः परमेश्वरः

Śrī Mārkaṇḍeya said: On the southern bank of the Narmadā lies the unsurpassed Devatīrtha. There the gods assembled and pleased Parameśvara (Śiva).

Verse 2

तत्र तीर्थे तु यः स्नात्वा कामक्रोधविवर्जितः । स लभेन्नात्र सन्देहो गोसहस्रफलं ध्रुवम्

Whoever bathes at that tīrtha, free from lust and anger, surely gains the merit of gifting a thousand cows—of this there is no doubt.
