Adhyaya 124

Verse 1

श्रीमार्कण्डेय उवाच । ततो गच्छेन्महीपाल नर्मदेश्वरमुत्तमम् । तत्र तीर्थे नरः स्नात्वा मुच्यते सर्वकिल्बिषैः

Śrī Mārkaṇḍeya said: Then, O protector of the earth, one should go to the excellent Narmadeśvara. Bathing at that tīrtha, a person is freed from all sins.

Verse 2

अग्निप्रवेशश्च जलेऽथवा मृत्युरनाशके । अनिवर्तिका गतिस्तस्य यथा मे शङ्करोऽब्रवीत्

Whether one enters fire, or water, or meets death in a place where there is no destruction—his onward course becomes irreversible, just as Śaṅkara himself once told me.
