मदीयास्त्वां धरिष्यंति जन्म ते सफलं ततः । त्वं वै वितानव्याजेन ममोपरि भविष्यसि
madīyāstvāṃ dhariṣyaṃti janma te saphalaṃ tataḥ | tvaṃ vai vitānavyājena mamopari bhaviṣyasi
My own attendants will bear you; then your birth will become fruitful. Indeed, under the pretext of being a canopy, you shall remain above Me.
Lord Shiva
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Liṅgodbhava
Sthala Purana: After refusing Ketakī as a direct offering due to its false testimony, Śiva still grants a limited grace: it will be borne by His gaṇas as a canopy, giving it a subordinate, non-offering role—anugraha tempered by dharma.
Significance: Models Siddhānta’s balance of nigraha (discipline) and anugraha (grace): even when fault is present, Śiva can reassign the being toward a lesser but meaningful service.
Role: teaching
The verse teaches that even a seemingly simple role—supporting or sheltering Shiva—becomes spiritually fruitful when connected to Shiva’s presence; sacred proximity and service to Pati (Shiva) sanctify the jiva’s purpose.
It reflects Saguna Shiva’s accessible grace: Shiva accepts tangible forms of service around His worship—such as canopy, temple honors, and protective attendance—showing that embodied devotion to the Linga leads to merit and inner purification.
It supports the spirit of upacāra-pūjā (devotional offerings and honors) to Shiva—serving, protecting, and adorning the Linga/altar—paired with steady bhakti and remembrance of Shiva (japa of “Om Namaḥ Śivāya” as appropriate).
