Śravaṇa–Kīrtana–Manana: Definitions and Hierarchy of Śaiva Sādhanā (श्रवणकीर्तनमनन-निरूपणम्)
दत्त्वार्घ्यमस्मै प्रददौ देवयोग्यं च विष्टिरम् । प्रसन्नः प्राह तं प्रह्वं प्रभुर्गंभीरया गिरा
dattvārghyamasmai pradadau devayogyaṃ ca viṣṭiram | prasannaḥ prāha taṃ prahvaṃ prabhurgaṃbhīrayā girā
Having offered him arghya—the water of reverential welcome—he also presented a seat befitting a deity. Pleased, the Lord then spoke to that bowed-down devotee in a deep and solemn voice.

It highlights bhakti expressed through reverent hospitality (arghya and a worthy seat), showing that humility and proper honor offered to Shiva invite his grace and direct instruction.
Arghya and āsana are standard upachāras in Saguna Shiva/Linga worship—treating Shiva as the living Lord who is welcomed, honored, and then reveals his will through compassionate speech.
Perform Shiva-puja with upachāras—offer arghya and prepare a clean āsana for the Linga; inwardly cultivate prahvatā (bowed humility) while repeating the Panchakshara, “Om Namaḥ Śivāya.”
