पुराणश्रवणप्रस्तावः
Prologue to the Recitation of the Śaiva Purāṇa
इति श्रीशिवमहापुराणे विद्येश्वरसंहितायां साध्यसाधनखण्डे । तृतीयोऽध्यायः
iti śrīśivamahāpurāṇe vidyeśvarasaṃhitāyāṃ sādhyasādhanakhaṇḍe | tṛtīyo'dhyāyaḥ
Thus ends the Third Chapter in the Sādhyasādhana-khaṇḍa of the Vidyeśvara-saṃhitā of the Śrī Śiva Mahāpurāṇa.
Suta Goswami (compiler-style colophon concluding the chapter, traditionally within Sūta’s narration to the sages)
This is a colophon marking the completion of a chapter, reminding the reader that the teaching belongs to the Sādhyasādhana theme—realizing the supreme goal (Śiva) through the proper means (Shaiva sādhanā).
Though it contains no direct instruction, it situates the chapter within the Vidyeśvara-saṃhitā, a core section that frames Shiva worship—often through the Liṅga and devotional disciplines—as the practical means toward Śiva-realization.
No specific ritual is stated in this colophon; its takeaway is continuity of practice—study and apply the chapter’s sādhanā (commonly including mantra-japa such as the Pañcākṣarī, Liṅga-pūjā, and Shaiva disciplines like bhasma and rudrākṣa where taught).
