In times of poverty, the rite involving fifty thousand (repetitions/offerings) grants the fulfilment of all desires. Now I shall declare the daily discipline (nitya-vidhi); listen, O best of sages.

The verse links material hardship with intensified Shiva-sadhana, teaching that disciplined devotion (especially japa and regular observance) aligns the devotee with Shiva’s grace, which can remove obstacles and also mature the soul toward steadiness and faith.
By introducing nitya-vidhi, the text points to daily Saguna worship—approaching Shiva through accessible forms such as the Shiva-Linga, mantra, and ritual discipline—so the devotee can receive both worldly support (artha, kama) and spiritual uplift (dharma, moksha).
It suggests a prescribed count of repetitions/offerings (fifty thousand) during poverty, followed by adherence to a daily Shiva-worship regimen (nitya-vidhi), typically centered on mantra-japa and regular puja.
