āyurāyogyadaṃ caiva yaśasyaṃ svargyameva ca | putrapautrādisukhadamākhyānamidamuttamam
This sublime sacred narrative bestows long life and health; it grants fame and leads to heaven, and it also gives the happiness that comes through sons, grandsons, and the blessings of family.
Suta Goswami
Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Paśupatinātha
Jyotirlinga: Viśvanātha
Sthala Purana: In the Viśveśvara-kṣetra (Kāśī), Śiva as Viśvanātha grants liberation and worldly boons; hearing/reciting the kṣetra-māhātmya is praised as merit-giving and life-fulfilling.
Significance: Śravaṇa/pāṭha of the māhātmya is said to yield āyuḥ, ārogya, yaśas, svarga-phala and family prosperity; pilgrimage supports both bhukti (well-being) and mukti (liberation) aspirations.
Type: stotra
It is a phalaśruti verse declaring that devotionally hearing or reciting this Shaiva narrative yields both worldly well-being (life, health, fame, family joy) and higher merit leading toward svarga—encouraging sustained bhakti to Lord Shiva.
By praising the ‘ākhyāna’ as supremely fruitful, it supports Saguna Shiva devotion—where listening to Shiva’s glories and engaging in Linga-centered worship are treated as powerful means for grace and auspicious results.
The implied practice is regular śravaṇa (hearing) and pāṭha (recitation) of the Shiva Purana with faith, ideally alongside Shaiva observances such as mantra-japa (e.g., Om Namaḥ Śivāya) and simple Linga-pūjā.
