The verse elevates bhakti toward Śiva and reverence for Śaiva scripture, teaching that sincere devotional honoring of the Śiva Purāṇa yields immense merit—comparable to great Vedic rites—because devotion aligned to Śiva (Pati) loosens bondage (pāśa).
In the Vidyeśvara context, honoring the Śiva Purāṇa is part of Saguna-Śiva upāsanā: approaching Śiva through accessible forms—Liṅga, mantra, and sacred narration—where devotion is primary and ritual grandeur is secondary.
Daily devotional practice is implied: respectful pūjā/archana of the Śiva Purāṇa (clean place, reverent reading/listening), coupled with bhakti—optionally supported by pañcākṣarī japa (Om Namaḥ Śivāya) as taught in the Vidyeśvara Saṃhitā.
