Bondage and Liberation: The Prakṛti–Karma Wheel and Śiva as the Transcendent Cause

O twice-born ones, the remnants left by the Guru are to be regarded as Śiva’s own sacred leavings—whether water, food, or the like. For disciples who are devotees of Śiva, it is proper to accept them and partake of them.

FAQs

It teaches that the Guru’s remnants are not ordinary leftovers but Śiva-prasāda, to be received with reverence; accepting them cultivates humility and receptivity to Śiva’s grace (anugraha) through the guru-paramparā.

Just as offerings to the Liṅga become sacred prasāda, the Guru—revered as a Śiva-bhakta and spiritual conduit—sanctifies water and food by association with Śiva; honoring such prasāda is an act of Saguna-Śiva devotion expressed through visible sacred forms.

Practice guru-sevā and accept guru-prasāda (water/food) with a purified attitude, mentally offering it to Śiva and receiving it as Śiva’s blessing; this can be accompanied by japa of the Pañcākṣarī mantra, “Om Namaḥ Śivāya.”
