It affirms Shiva as Pati (the Lord) who is untouched by māyā and therefore eternally pure; realizing this ever-fresh, unconditioned Shiva-tattva is presented as the basis for liberation from pāśa (bondage).
Linga worship is a saguna support that points to the same reality described here: the formless, māyā-free Shiva. The devotee worships the Linga while contemplating Shiva’s śuddha-svarūpa beyond all limiting attributes.
Meditate on Shiva as māyā-rahita while repeating the Panchākṣarī mantra (Om Namaḥ Śivāya), using the Linga as a focus, and cultivate inner purity (śuddhi) as an expression of His śuddha-svarūpa.
