Pārthiva-pratimā Pūjā-vidhāna — Procedure for Worship of an Earthen Icon
बिंदुनादात्मकं सर्वं जगत्स्थावरजंगमम् । बिंदुः शक्तिः शिवो नादः शिवशक्त्यात्मकं जगत्
biṃdunādātmakaṃ sarvaṃ jagatsthāvarajaṃgamam | biṃduḥ śaktiḥ śivo nādaḥ śivaśaktyātmakaṃ jagat
This entire universe—both the immovable and the moving—is of the nature of Bindu and Nāda. Bindu is Śakti, Nāda is Śiva; thus the world is, in essence, Śiva and Śakti together.
Suta Goswami (narrating Shiva’s doctrine to the sages at Naimisharanya, in the Vidyeshvara context)
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Sadāśiva
Significance: Encourages seeing every pilgrimage and every liṅga as a revelation of the Śiva-Śakti ground (nāda-bindu), transforming external worship into contemplative recognition of the cosmos as divine embodiment.
Type: stotra
Shakti Form: Umā
Role: creative
It teaches that creation is not separate from the Supreme: the cosmos is a manifestation of Śiva (consciousness, Nāda) and Śakti (power, Bindu). Realization of their unity supports liberation by dissolving the sense of separation.
The Liṅga symbolizes the undivided Śiva–Śakti reality: Śiva as pure awareness and Śakti as creative potency. Saguna worship uses form, sound, and ritual to approach the same non-dual ground indicated here as Nāda and Bindu.
Meditate on mantra (Nāda) and the inner point of concentration (Bindu)—for example, japa of “Om Namaḥ Śivāya” with steady attention at the heart or between the eyebrows—while offering worship to the Liṅga with bhakti.
