Pārthiva-pratimā Pūjā-vidhāna — Procedure for Worship of an Earthen Icon

On the seventh lunar day (Saptamī) of the bright fortnight in Māgha, one should perform worship of Āditya (the Sun). Likewise, in Jyeṣṭha and Bhādrapada—when it is Soma’s weekday (Monday)—on the twelfth lunar day (Dvādaśī), and when the Śravaṇa nakṣatra is present, one should duly undertake the prescribed worship.

It emphasizes that worship becomes especially fruitful when aligned with sacred time (tithi, weekday, and nakshatra), training the devotee in disciplined, dharma-based devotion that ultimately supports Shaiva sadhana and inner purification.
In Shaiva practice, honoring cosmic powers like Āditya can be understood as reverencing Shiva’s manifested order (saguna expression of divine governance). Such time-bound observances complement Linga worship by cultivating regularity, purity, and devotion.
Perform Āditya-yajana (Sun worship) on Māgha Śukla Saptamī, and undertake the prescribed worship on Dvādaśī when Monday coincides with Śravaṇa nakshatra—ideally with mantra-japa, offerings, and a focused, sattvic observance.
